Ok I was really fed up in the beginning of the week after 3 asus motherboards and maybe a cpu. If my cpu isnt screwed I will try again but I have some ?'s. this is my setup....

mach 2

asus p4c800-e

3.4 prescott

ati 9800xt 256

corsair 4400 twin x

1. People with mach2 setups how long have you had them up and running?

2. Do you basically leave them on or turn them off everynight?

3.Is there another good motherboard for my setup out there?

4. If I blow up another can someone please send me some scotch from over that way to the states?

what u should do to be safe.

buy some dielectric grease and fill the cpu socket.

the holes where the cpu goes in.

push thr grease into the holes.

dont worry its not conductive.

then put a small bit in the centre of the hole.

spead thinly on back of mabo. and thats it.

u wont kill any more mobos or cpu-z i promise.

Daz - you keep cutting the end off folks quotes! Its dead confuzin!! Would ya recommend putting anything on the back where the heater goes i.e. grease or not?

what about a diff motherboard do people have the same trouble with the IC7-MAX3 that they do with the p4c800-e condensation breaking ect? also how hot is the heating pad on the back supposed to get so hot that u can bearily touch the back peice of plastic?

Mate,i killed several Max3's on prommies,(3/4,maybe 5)within a 3 month period earlier this year,the last one didn't survive 24 hours,so i know just how you've been feeling.You follow the instructions to the letter,do everything carefully and thoroughly,it fires up and runs fine,yes i got it this time......then the nightmare starts all over again.It's absolutely soul destroying.After a lot of e-mails to nventiv and abit (with little success)and after i joined up here, i deduced that to be getting condensation in an air-tight chamber (i knew my seals were good),it had to be trapped air pockets in the cpu socket.So i started completely packing my socket with DC4 (dielectric compound),really squish it through the pin-holes and i haven't had a problem since.Try not to get grease everywhere as it trashes your sealstring.Yes,my heater pad gets very hot,so i think its normal (yeah,i had the some worries)and i use my pc just like any other enthusiast,changing stuff all the time,mad o/c's,long gaming sessions,quick benchies.When you get it sorted ,it'll be great.

Another vote for dielectric grease

I use P4C800-E deluxe mobo with a Mach II GT and like the other guys use a liberal coating of dielectric grease in the CPU pin holes, and everywhere inside the CPU kit really. On the back of the mobo I use a conformal coating which is like a plastic coating with some dielectric grease spread thinly on top to protect from condensation. I have been running this setup for about 5 months with different chips , 3.0C, 3.4C and 3.4E D0 without any problems yet - fingers crossed!!

I too run the same Asus motherboard, no dielectric grease or anything. Just the kit contents as standard and I'm 3 months in now. No problems so far (touch wood). The machine is ran pretty much 24/7 too.
