hey,now i no that a 19''monitor has a native res of 1440*900 and a 22'' monitor has anative res of 1920*1080 also a 24'' has a natve res of 1920*1200,now all them sizes and reselutions fit the monitor perfect reason ime asking is my GF was gnna get a 32'' tv at 1920*1080 but there is no room,so what would be the next one down would it be 30'' or 26'' or summet else,i no they do 23'',37'',21.5 but i want the res to fit perfectly and still be a good size,so yer whats the next size down.

What you've initially said is standard, although the standard for 22" is 1680x1050, not 1920x1080, that's 24" standard, although 24" vary between that an 1920 x 1200.

Most resolutions will fit a screen 'perfectly' if the aspect ratio is correct.

You said she was going to buy a 32" TV, does she want a TV or a monitor? Next size down in TV would be 28", then 26" and then 22", roughly anyway. If it's a monitor then it's 30", 27", 24" and then 23", with an odd few inbetween.

What's the budget, as I think that would help more, rather than just the size.

You need a big monitor (or tv? not sure..), under 32"?

hey thanks for the reply yer i meant standerd mate ,its a tv she is after has to be fullHD,budget is about £400.cheers

I would think 32" is the only sensible option for full HD, and even then it's pushing it as to whether it's worth it or not, depending on how far from the TV you sit.

Depends how far you are away from the TV, if it's a living room setup, 24" wouldn't really be nice. And it's 23.6" for the 1080p versions.

Ive got sammys all round, T240 x2 in my office, a 2433 in the shed and a 1080 - 32" in the front room. I might add my T240's have a better res than my telly, but it really depends what you need the screen for.

If its just TV get the 32, if its mainly pc but the occasional film get the 24".

well samsungs seem to offer the best LG following, the distance from were we sit to were the TV goes is not that far ide say smaller distance than the average living room, just that my 22'' is abit to small as you have to much of a perriferal, but sammy t260 loooks awsome so that might be my winner

Almost, 20" standard is 1680x1050, 24" is 1920x1200.

Additional inches are stretched versions of these.

1080 variations are manufacturers pacifying the hdtv viewers. Don't like these monitors myself for gaming. Good for everything else tho.

Strange my 32"tv have a x768 resolution native (720 in tv speak), does 1920x1200 for a pc. All in the interlacing I spect.

32 inch is the largest you want really, unless you have a massive lounge. People don't realise they dont always need a huge tv.

1680 x 900 is the standard resolution for a 20".

Here's a rough diagram. There are better ones out there:

16:10, or 8:5, is the computer standard for wide.

I get that, when I usally go to PC world, 32" looks so tiny, but in my living room my 32" fits perfect.

well they do say it will look bigger as well they are wearhouses lol,but even still we was right facing it with kinda no sence of how big the place was (as there on stands) but it looked so small but then again the 40'' we looked at looked about how i thought i 32'' was,but wow thr 50'' samsung LED's are sex such amazingness

Agreed with the warehouse/showroom making things look small.

It's like when u goto take a pee in a bathroom with a big urinal :p

LMAO,well just been having another look now and there was a 40'' for £599,or a 32'' for £499,but it will probly be the 32''

If you can stretch to £599 currys are doind a 200hz LG 42" set, and you can nock about £20 off if you hassle the manager usually! Nice tv! :) (42LH5000 -ZB)
