Question for my future computer

Hi all,

i just wanted to ask some veteran pc builders if i made a good current list of parts for my comming pc, sins different people have different preformance results, i wanted to know what was the good and bad, sins the experiences are different time to time for people who purchase them.

Current list:

Case: Thermaltake Armor+

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750W

GPU: MSI 8800gts 512 HD OC

Mobo: MSI P7N Diamond / Asus striker II Formula

CPU: Q6600 / Q9450

Memory: Corsair Dominator 2x1GB DDR2-8500 + dominator fan

CPU-Cooler: Asus Silentknight II

currently i already got a maxtor 160gb and a x-fi xtreme gamer sound card, and getting a good dvd burner is no money and consern sins there mostly all the same, most of the time.

some parts in the list if put 2 options, these options are still things where iam doubting aboud.

second of all, i know alot of people say that if u dont run on sli, then dont even think aboud a nvidia mobo, but if i look to the future the iam thinking it would be nice to add a second card when i got some more cred avaible:D

right now iam aiming for good products with good prices, if someone can give me advice aboud better bang for buck at one of these products, or if 1 of the products are just to bad, then that would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again;)

Rob

Are you aiming to overclock the CPU? Because that is the main reason as of why you should NOT have an Nvidia chipset.

They cannot clock quads. Who knows why.

But if you want SLI over an overclock CPU.. then stick with the motherboards chosen.

Otherwise looks pretty darn good! :)

well, all these years of gaming, i never overclocked before, i will probaly try to do now when i get everything, but i wont go for the big over clocking, probaly only a little to try out, but not seriously, thats also 1 of the reasons i rather also get some sli wich enhanced preformance in another way.

well my current problem is, is that iam really, but really at the limit of my budget, the corsair 1066mhz 2x1gb kit is 100 euro, if i want 4gb then i need to add 80 euros with that, and then il be going over my budget, a little while ago a friend told me that with gaming, u will be fine with 2gb of ram at that speed.

Tox.. The MSI P7N was just reviewed and was proven to be an extremely good overclocker.. Not sure if it was the exact same one though.

But yeah that would be the exception it seems..

You say that now, but once you realize how easy it is, youll definitely want that high overclock :D

well, then i hope i just make the right choise, but iam confident that its going to be alright at the end, sins i will be going from a pentium 4, 1gb 400mhz, crappy hp mother board, the only decent in it was a msi 7950 gt, but i killed it so thats also the reason that iam going to get this monster :worship:

Case: Not to my taste but each to their own. Perhaps silverstone, lian-li etc?

PSU: Most TT products suck, however the toughpower psu's got good reviews so fair enough. Tagan, pcp&c...

GPU: Sweet - maybe just get an OEM one, as in no brand. Save cash.

Mobo: If you must get sli then this is your only choice in my eyes as it is a proven clocker

CPU: q6600 - cheaper, higher multi = easier OC'ing and it performs just as well as the much more expensive 9450

Mem: Stay away from overpriced dominator garbage. I went through 2 sets. Crap. Get ocz or cellshock. 4gb can be had for sooo cheap.

CPU cooler: budget, arctic freezer 7, best one (~£40) Thermalright Ultra Extreme (aka TRUE)

Will be a nice rig mate.

hmm, on the dutch stores the lowest prices are 149 euro's at min for a good 4gb at 1066, and these arent with any heatsinks, can someone maybe take a look for me? my nephew lifes in the uk, so he can buy things there for me if its so much cheaper over in the uk;) or ofcource in any other country in europe, as germany:worship:

i go btw for the msi 8800 gts 512 hd oc becouse its cheap (269 euro) and becouse i had always good experiance with msi and becouse it gots dynamic overclocking system on the card.

EDIT: Okay, i found the Crucial Ballistix Tracer, these look and preform awsome, and sins i love blue leds:D
