Hey guys new to forums and needing some help!!!!!!!!

My system is in my sig, abd here is my problem!

Have the D975XBX2 upgraded from little brother "BadAxe" (Board shorted out)

Have 4X OCZ Platinum 6400 REV2's

The only way I can get the OCZ'z to work are in single ch mode in one set of dims. when I try all 4 it just sits there with a black screen and does nothing except the dvdrw light blinks. When I remove 2 of them back to 2 gigs in single channel it boots. what gives?

I have tested each stick and they test good, (One stick at a time, when boot). Then tested 2 sticks in Blue sockets (no boot), The tested in Blue & Black Socket on same side (Boots to windows).

Now I thought this might be a the deal but not sure you tell me if its ok to do this,

This was an upgrade from the same model board, only diff was the REV version, I didnt want to redo the OS because I had stuff on there before the Old MB went out, So All I did was mount the board with the cpu, cooler and 2 gigs of ram to start, then went to frys and got another 2 gigs of same kit. The no boot with 4 gigs.

Now do I need to install a fresh OS so the Ram works? If I knew what I know now I would have never bought the BADAXE2, its driving me crazy,

some one help me out, I need this system going at full steam, I use it to edit HD video from my Sony-fx7 and need it really fast!

What are some ideas you all have for me, I have been trying to figure this out... Do I..........

Get a different MB and try with the OCZ mem?

Do I take back the OZC 2 gigs and get a DIff ram?

what would be a less money out of pocket fix all in this?

Thanks for your time,

Need to up ur vDIMM mate :) Put a single stick in the very last slot and boot in to the BIOS, go in to the menu with voltage adjustments and bump the voltage up to 2.2v, this should be a safe voltage for any DDR2. Save the settings, power down your computer completely (switch it off in the back for at least 10 seconds), put in the rest of your RAM, and restart.

The XBX2 has a hard time booting if you don't have enough juice to the RAM. Also just a heads up, any time you make a voltage change in the BIOS, you MUST switch off the computer completely @ the PSU and let the PWM's / MOSFET's drain of all power or else they will not switch to the newly selected voltage.

Report back if this helps ya mate.

If my memory serves me right, I only saw adjustmens to 2.0 to 2.4 for volts to dim. On your BX2 do you have the 1x4 connected to the board? I'm at work I will not be able to try this till 7pm EST but I will report to you, do you have MSN messanger, I hear your big on Weapons (guns) would love to talk to you, I'm a 19D Cav Sniper in the Georgia National Guard!

But I will let ou know how the settings go!!

wich dimm sockets are you saying ais the first one?

I believe by default the board is set at 1.8vdimm. I had the 4pin or 6pin power (cant remember which it is on that board.... don't have it any more) connected to yes, you definitely should have that connected as well.

The first DIMM socket is going to be the closest to the LGA, the last socket being the closes to the back (right) edge of the mobo.

Awesome @ being a NG Sniper mate, we'll deffo hafta chat. :D U can catch me on MSN, my little MSN button should have the right info.

Dont see your msn button there frag, and on the vdim I do not see a option for 2.2 volts just 2.0 and then 2.4 is the next setting.

wtf? have you updated the BIOS? there should be a slew of options between 1.8 and like 2.6.

Yea did it last night, but it goes from 1.84-1.86-1.90-2.0-2.4-2.8-2.12 ans so

It goes from 2.0 to 2.4? That's not right. Try flashing with a different BIOS version.

Solved Problem: RMA to Intel.............Picked up a EVGA 680i MOBO (And Loving it)

Thanks

Fragtek for your help!!
