Question about fan adapters

Why not plug it in and see if all fans plug in is working than you know if it will work or not

Wow bad advice!!

Plug it in and see...

I would say this is a bad idea, daisy chaining cables with 6 fans putting that much onto one output sounds like bad news to me.. From one mobo port as well just sounds like a bad idea.

Point taken but i will try and use the spliters on two fan connections on the motherboard

They both are currently plugged into the motherboard just now but I cannot control one of them through speed fan and the fans are a tad loud for my liking this is why I was wondering if I could plug the other one into it :D

This is a warning taken from the page you posted;

Please take care not to overload the output header - check the current draw of your fans before use. For higher power fans this is more suited to a fan controller rather than motherboard use.

Yeah I just seen this after I posted this haha looks like im gonna need to figure a way out to make the fans quieter then :eek:

You can buy molex to fan splitters, and change the voltage yourself by moving pins in the molex. 7v is about the sweet spot for fans, nice and quiet but still good airflow.

There are 12 to 7 or 5 volt fan adapters You can either use those or buy a fan controller

I just got rid of my fan controller as I never liked it that much lol

I have a few of those lying around actually, I am a n00b when it comes to stuff like this is it hard or do I just take one the pins out the connector ?

Exactly that, remove the ground wire (one of the two middle holes) and put it in the end hole so that there are two empty holes between both wires. That way the fan gets 7v, which is the difference between the 12v positive and the 5v ground. The molex pins have two sticking out legs to grip inside the connector, give them a squeeze and the pin slides out. Tweak them slightly so they stick out again when you refit it.

Just like this video then ?

If you do make one that way, do yourself a massive favour and cut off or remove any bits you don't need to avoid plugging anything else into it by mistake. All you need once finished are the black and red wires to the fan connector with their pins fitted, and the male molex connector.
