Question about EPP and what it really means.

I`ve got in my possesion, 4x1g Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 DDR2 1066 as a quad kit. Fan etc, blah blah.

It boasts, and cpuz confirms, something like:

333mhz 4-4-4-12 1.8v -----\ (not entirely correct, but for arguements sake it`ll do)

400mhz 5-5-5-12 2.2v -----/

...

533mhz 5-5-5-15 2.2v EPP <--- correct. (I think)

Now my question is, why does it have a fit if u go above 420mhz ? Do u need to do `something` before the profile `kicks in` - or what ?

It`s not an issue with the system, I just don`t understand basically.

Have you tried individual sticks/a dual channel pair?

I read some where some mobos have problems clocking up 4 sticks

When I had 4x Corsair sticks in my old A8N-E (socket 939), a corsair techy guy said the CMD Rate had to be set to 2(2T). hence why most ppl opt for 2-channel kits for lower rates (1T). not sure if this applies to new motherboards too o_0
