Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - Rest in peace

Thanks for posting that video. It's really good, and a nice way to remember her.

So she finally decided to give Charles the throne, after has has waited so long... I'm surprised he didn't die from the shock.

Sorry, maybe not the most appropriate humour at this time, but that was my first thought.

It does feel like the end of an era.

I'm not a royalist in truth, but she was for the longest time the glue to the union, so i wish her well on her travels, such big shoes to fill that it seems impossible.

i am german and i am not nostalgic for our "nobility" and royals, it is long gone and it´s fine that way.

but england kept it´s royal tradition and lizzy was so much part of great britain... and part of my live too.
more than many german politicans.
you can´t help but follow the british royals, they are in the news every week.

anyway i must say paddington thanking her brings tears to my eyes.....

rest in peace.

When I look at the political scene in the UK, I wish the Royal family had a greater role in actually leading the country. For all their faults, at least they care about their country more than the average politician.

Rest in peace.

While I have no love at all for royalty ( it is a thing of the past ) I will offer my condolences to the family and hope that they will get through this rough time in their lives. I do hope that Charles does as good if not better job than his mum.

It saddens me to see such sorrow in his eyes though. Royalty or not he is another human that has lost someone near and dear to him....that is all that matters.

Rest In Peace Elizabeth.

.

seeing this clown boris johnson talking about the queen, duty and then thinking about prince philps dead, the queen sitting alone while he was partying... makes me sick.

they did not find something more suited to read that in parliament?

Many people in northern Ireland want to cut away from England and rejoin the Republic of Ireland to be 1 Ireland again like it was before the British decided "this is our land now" so I can see this shifting things further into a united Ireland direction.

It's inevitable that it will happen, Only question is when.

This could also put Scotland more in the direction of getting freedom from their absentee landlords i.e the English, And having their country back without foreign rule.

LOL.

If Scotland got "their country" back they would be worse off than Greece. They would have so much debt they wouldn't know what to do with it.

I for one would welcome it. At least it would stop them continually whining about it and how much they hate the English. It must be nice when all you have to do is complain about someone else. TBH? I often wonder what they would move onto after that.

A lot of the Welsh are like that too. Only they seem to forget that a good percentage are on benefits, taking handouts from who? England.

It must be a nice life to hate on the English so much. Means that you don't have any real issues of your own.

Also going back to NI? you would be amazed by how much the North, especially, wants to remain in the UK. I would absolutely bet my hat that it would be overwhelming, just like it was when Scotland voted for independence.

Dublin and many cities in the north are doing better than ever before. Mostly thanks to funding from Downing Street.

A fair amount of the UK's gas and oil comes from Scottish territory, They'd be fine, Just look at the Republic of Ireland, Nearly 1.5 Million less population and it's a thriving country because its resources aren't being continually plundered by another country. When I worked there the standard of living was nicely ahead of the UK which is pretty normal for most EU countries. Same would happen with Scotland, Would take a few years but they'd get there.

Time for the English ruling class to let go of their colonial ways.

Dublin is in the Republic as it's the capital of the Republic, Not the north, The Republic receives no funding from the UK as it is a separate sovereign country, Dublin receives funding from the European Union. Guessing you mean Belfast.

The Republic did however get a loan of £3 Billion around 2010 which it has to pay back but it didn't go far, Although £3 billion in the grand scheme of things is nothing especially considering the 700 years of murder and near genocide that happened at the hands of the British ruling class.

Anyway this is going vastly off topic now, Best stick to Lizzie, RIP.
