Quality Digital Tuner

I was wondering if anyone uses tv cards? If so are they any good?

I'd like one that picks up freeview, hdtv and dab would be nice too - it has to be a usb one though as my x-fi sits in my only pci slot...

Price wise not bothered - as long as extra cash is justifiable in terms of better reception/features... £30-60ish seems reasonable.

Any recommendations/reviews would be appreciated :)

ahh an area thats close to my heart.

I use a couple here, the avermedia Volar usb when im on the road, the A800 on the pc in the office.

They arent the cheapest but they use the best tuners on the market by a company called Dibcom. Also the software that it comes with is usable as wll.

Relability has been flawless for me personally. The small volar (HERE) is a nice small unit that doesnt get hot, unlike some others which get hot to the touch. Ive had mine running on a test Vista machine and can confirm that the Avermedia Volar and A800 tv cards are vista compatible should you want to go that way.

What sort of info you after, only to happy to help :D

Shiftlocked - thanks for that - I notice specialtech stress "- Use of an external tv aerial is HIGHLY recommended. " This shouldn't be a problem if it is just a standard roof aerial?

Frag - lovin the new look you got going there. As for the pinnacle it looks nice but I can't find any in the UK... Plus wouldn't there be some sort of compatibility issue?

Ham - Thanks, I'll look those up.
