Qualcomm has unveiled their 24-core ARM Based server CPU, which is designed for hyper scale server solutions for companies like Google and Facebook.

As great as it is for QC to enter the market.. Intel owns nearly everything. They have the experience and expertise whereas QC are new and probably don't have the edge in either performance or setting up servers like Intel can. Also it's hard for me to see Google and FB switching to ARM. They would have to rewrite software on a massive scale.

Yeah the CPU is massive.

The die itself doesn't need to be that big. Maybe the PCB of the processor is just that big to have room for all those contact points. It's probably both though.
