Q6700: 266x10. 2660MHz 95W

QX6850: 333x9. 3000MHz 130W

QX6800: 266x11. 2930MHz 130W

the QX68/6850 have roughly a 10% clock speed increase, but the TDP is roughly 30% higher. (The chips will all be less than the the 130W limit) All 3 chips are G0 ONLY.

Assuming a 500FSB limit on all, an x10 multi is all thats needed, so for overclocking, the Q6700 is probs the best choice of the three- its binning is the most aggressive by the looks.

bloody good job too, as I just ordered a Q6700 :D

on another note, the 500 limit will be lifted with the release of these new motherboards...

My interest in the X38 is pretty much non-existant- are there really FSB gains for Quads, even over P35? What about duallies?

I kinda want to rant about mobos, features and prices....must.....resist....

Do any of you quad core knowledgable folks know if its even worth my while considering a quad to OC if my mobo is a p5b deluxe 965 board? plus my waterblock is a storm v1

iv been told it'l just perform like crap and im better with a c2d until I can afford to change mobo, cpu and waterblock together :/

Well, Blindfitter on phase cooled rig had our q6600 up to 4.3ghz - albeit the board is totally volt modded (around £35 plus post from persivore).

My unmodded P5B is lacklustre but it should still be good for 3.6 ghz on water (maybe more) with the current BIOS - I am guessing yours will be on or around the same.

If not check out classifieds for a board that got a B1 step Kentsfield up to 4.2 ghz on phase ;)

I had a q6600 B3 upto 3.4 on air and 3.6 under phase on a standard P5B deluxe, max stable fsb was 400. Using same setup and a E6600 i got 4.6 about 4.4 stable and 520 fsb:D Imo you need to do all the vmods to get the most out of a quad or sell your present board and get a P5K which is what i'm doing.
