Hey guys ive tried getting past 3GHZ but my machine wont post and then drops back to 2.4G,

My board is Gigabyte G41M-Combo

CPU- Q6600 G0 Stepping,

2X2GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1333MHz

My understanding is that with G0 steppings you can push them further, my cpu is watercooled and i want to try get 4Ghz if i can.

Any help will be much apreciated

Thanks guys

Mobo is gonna be holding you back.

And as for getting to 4Ghz,you have very little chance, not too many Q66's could get that far,3.4-3.6 easy,36-3.8 so so,3.8+ rare

X38,X48 or P35,P45-Intel

750(maybe)780 or 790 Nvidia

Those are the chipsets you are gonna need to push a Q66.The G41 is not designed to be able to push that far,it is not an overclocking board.

well as soon as i can im getting a 3570k and a Asus Maximus IV Extreme P67. that will let me oc

Although someone told me not to go for the P67 and go for a Asrock Fatal1ty Z77,

What do you guys think?

LOL Why on earth would yo go for a p67 board when you can get a just as good Z77 board for a fraction of the price...........

P67,Z68,Z77-pretty much all the same,a few more bells and whistles on the Z boards over the P67,as for Asrock, they seem to have come a long way in the last few years, but ANYTHING that says Fatal1ty I avoid, just seems like a cash grab.

well atm it runs really well, on bf3 i avg about 120fps so if the new componants make a better diffrence in futuremark scores then ill be happy
