Hey I got a bug to mod already. I do Photoshop mostly and tell me if Im wrong; Im better off with a quad core for graphics. Y or N

I got the e6850 3 weeks ago and cant take it back to frys so I am going to sell it. I am in the middle of an extensive vehicle wrap with huge files and rendering as well as rip for the printing at the same time.

If Im better off with a quad for this application then I wantto get it done so my e6850 (3mhz) is on the block for $235 its the G0 unit.

So before I take a loss here can or will I notice a difference between the 2 for multiple apps like the designing and riping (print) at the same time. Or is it a waste of money?

I do really big files (220"X60" at 1;1 150ppi rgb for vehicle wraps) 780mb before doing anything and then I need to rip and print at same time to keep things rolling. If i take a loss so be it but I want thoughts before I jump the gun and go buy the CPU.

u'll surely notice a diff in type of work u do.but i'll suggest u to wait for a few more months and go in for the Intel native quad cores.they r supposed to perform better than the present quad cores.

Good, apparenyly my e6850 sold so ill be on my way to frys this morning. Hrd be dumb not to grt it at $225 and its new with receipt for it.

i woulda waited till the new 45nm quads come out they are said to outperform the current ones but 20-30% and have more cache also.

Please correct me if i'm mistaken, but i've been informed by a knowledgeable family member that the 45nm cpu's are prone to interference which adversely affects their operation.

Is there any truth in this, as I don't fancy having to line my case with lead sheet?:eh:

If you are talking about the microwaves a CPU gives off. Then I would say most of the C2D series will give off some sort of wave.. :)

I heard it was 3Ghz+. Could be wrong. But it is an interesting subject.

Good luck with your Quad. ;)
