Pump and Fans switched off overnight. Would this have damaged my CPU?

Hi,

I left my PC on overnight running Folding.

To my horror when I came down this morning both the CPU Cooler Pump and Fans had turned off completely and my CPU was hitting temps of 100C and throttling.

I just wanted to check with you guys to see if this could damage the CPU, or was the fact that it was throttling a good thing in the long run?

Wow mate! I'm actually surpised the cpu managed to throttle under those conditions and didn't just shut down the whole system. Niceee :D

I wasn't impressed! Practically shat myself! Won't be using MSI Command Centre to control the fans again as I think it was the culprit!

Just glad the CPU is OK!

Thanks for your words of assurance!

No real way to tell without before and after benchmarks.

As long as its working dont worry about it but I would set up and auto shutdown feature linked to heat if I were you. A lot of decent boards have options in the bios so go have a look or look at your mobo manual.

I don't have benchmarks from before other than remembering the fps I got in 3DMark Firestrike. Would that be an acceptable test?

Regarding the auto shutdown I thought that was automatically on so will defo have to look at that, thanks for the info. Do you have a suggested temp for shut off?

I ran this program and the CPU passed. Fingers crossed my CPU survived unscathed! Thanks for the suggestion.
