This is my first gaming pc build so I have got a lot to learn, the last pc I built was an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 1GB of ram about 12 years ago and things have moved on a lot since then.

I have recently been using an old Core 2 Duo Acer laptop with an overheating problem, an old Samsung monitor and bargain basement keyboard and mouse to just about play minecraft on really low settings :D

Here she is mounted on 4 drinks cans to aid cooling lol

I have been keeping my eye on YouTube Tech channels to get to grips with current hardware and have been waiting for the next big thing to happen, a few weeks ago I came to the realisation that the industry is always changing and so I would be waiting forever so I took the plunge and ordered all the components to make my rig.

I have taken delivery of most of it so here goes my attempt to build a gaming pc.

I want to build so etching that looks good and I also want to have a go at overclocking for the first time.

The obligatory components arranged on a table pic

Looks like a good solid first build mate, but why the Asus wifi card ? Wow 16 GB of ram that is way over kill for a gaming rig mate, if you wanted 4 dimms, why not just go for 4 x 4 GB sticks and save a load of cash.

As far as I know this board doesn't have on board wifi so I needed an adapter so I figured the card would be better than a dongle? Plus it's red lol

I won't be using it solely for gaming but I already bought 16GB and added another.

Ok so I have got cracking with this, I'm new to building and saw you should test outside the case first. If I'm doing it wrong calm down I'm a noob lol

CPU and ram fitted, notice the mark on the hero part of the heat sink which I'm not happy about

Black blue would be my first choice for colours to be honest but it seems most of the gaming stuff is red so didn't have much choice, I wanted Asus so I had to go with what was available.

Yeah I'm hoping to try some simulator games etc (I'm usually an Xbox gamer) but minecraft will still get a good amount of time lol

Horrible flash pic, look at the front base cable which is way to short so it's ruining my setup

Hi

Lovely, but I hope you change to the Red ring on the H105 Pump top

There should be a USB extension that you can buy to get around the short cable, however If it was myself, I would just make one.

Love the specs of the system and wish I had those GPU's

The H105 is a tight fit in the 450D

Lovely build you've put together here! Like Radeon said. The only thing you need now is a black SLI bridge

I see what your saying but it was the best looking one I could find that matched the red.

nice rig bud

Thanks

Looking awesome mate but of course you'll need to do something about that SLi bridge ;).

I have a black sli bridge that I got with the board but because of the plastic cover being rite in the way on the cards it's to short so had to use the ugly long one I got with the cards.

I really like the 2 red and 2 black hyperx fury modules. It really is a nice accent.
And offcourse the red wifi card on top of the black GPU backplate, awesome ;)

But wouldn't there be any hard plastic SLI bridge out there that clears the GPU cooler?
