Project: Black Widow Rev.3

After making probably one of the biggest mistakes in the PC case owning side of my life by selling my beloved and extremely limited edition Cooler Master Black Widow:

I've started a few projects to try and fill the void...

But none could replace the neatness of that sexy little case. So after searching ebay for the past two years (not joking) I've finally decided to settle for the Black Widow's brother:

She's a bit bruised and battered but I managed to pick her up at a steal price of £17.

Rather than coming back to me, she's going to go straight to WCUK and off to one of their painters to be rubbed down, powdercoated inside and painted outside (including front) in black with holographic flake.

Hardware won't be over the top. Maybe an asus mobo, 4870 gpu and air cooling.

I can't wait to see how she looks in her new holographic paint job mate...totally sick is more than likely an understatement. I love the Praetorian - total class :) No water though this time around or are you going to be keeping that for the other rig?

Nah I think this one is a bit too small to put water in without either mounting the rad externally or going with a pointless 120.1 rad. I think I'll probably just find a monster heatsink for it :p

not over the top is 939/am2

thats excessive

and i dont think there's a word for anything more than excessive :p

maybe if your rich :p

average pc i've noticed is either 939 or am2, or top end of average would be a low C2D ...

budget is cheap stuff, like 478/socket A, with somthing like an X300 - X700 - 9800pro etc

When you can get a celeron 430 for £20 (conroe-l core) a semi-decent motherboard for £35ish and a semi decent amount of DDR2 for £15-20? Thats budget. Not buying old, redundant hardware.

Anyway, Back on topic.

Case arrived with my man Marcus last night. She's not looking too bad for under £20, but deffo has seen better days.

Some more parts arrived yesterday. Namely a dual 80mm radiator (aaahh how cute!), Aqua-Computer dual floppy bay reservoir, Purple Feser, D-Tek Fuzion v2, D-Tek DB-1 and some Yate Loons :D

There was one problem tho...the Aqua-Computer res only takes 8mm fittings. So time to pull out the tapping kit and get some 1/2" barbs on there..
