Sort of already finished but Ill post a wee teaser now and will put up a build log when I have gone over all of my pics.

Still in dire need of a cable re-jig and tidy, planning the water cooling for the GPU, a choice of case fans and numerous other little touches to get everything as wanted... Cant wait!

So... thoughts?

Andy

Not much space really... single loop is all I have space for inside and that'll be a dual rad and a single rad... The lower unit hoses an SS so Im in need of GPU cooling only :)

Can't wait for the build log, this should produce some pretty amazing speeds. I recommend Gentle Typhoon 1450RPM case fans if you're looking at getting new ones, they have some pretty goof airflow for the noise.

Got 4 enermax clusters coming on the way so I shall see what they are like.

Got numerous levels of kit I can stuff in to it so im hoping I can have a toy with sme lower kit first in order to get the unit as I want it and then drop in the big guns :)

Andy

I get the feeling your power company is quaking when they read this. I was pretty impressed by the enermax fans, but they are just a bit too expensive for my tastes.

Definitely break it in with the lower end stuff, don't risk the really good hardware.

ooh some phase going on in there nice! and is that an asus gtx460?

those clusters look brilliant whats the airflow like with them?

lol wow that is a phase, nice one fella

hmmm that does smell like 460,come on fella tell us how it is i guess its the 768mb version,as asus dont have a 1gb yet

Its an ATI 5850 Asus branded DirectCU. Uses the same PCB as the 5870 V2 reviewed on this very site. As such, it has an 8 and 6pin power connection so when I give it the beans (1.3v core) I have it sat nicely at 1120/1300 making it faster in most cases than a GTX480 and all for £240 :)

Its all temporary anyway, will be throwing the dual 5970s in when i get my hands on a i7 970 hex core at month end (should it be released).

As for the clusters... they move more thn enough air to keep the GPU cool and will hopefully keep the insides well ventilated too!

Andy

Nope.. not better, its cheaper, lower multi and the multi is locked. Its essentially going to be an i7 950 or 960 with an extra 2 cores and as such will have 12 threads.

Saves spending silly money on an extreme edition :)

this new ones gonna be the same as the 980x but its gonna have a locked multiplier

Probably yeah. That's what they did with the QX6700. Basically took the Q6600, unlocked it and charged three times more for it. Looks like they're going barse ackwards this time. Probably because of AMDs Thuban.

except the 930's just a 'mastering' of the manufacturing process its practically exactly the same as the 920 with just a 22x multi added and runs at 2.8 instead of 2.66

Thats like saying the 950 is the mastering of the 920 too.. just has more multis? :S

Anyway, back to OP. How loud is that? Looks like a giant fridge
