Problems with Asus A8N-SLI deluxe chipset fan

I have been having this problem with my chipset fan sometimes when I start my PC. It will say this while booting **Warning: your computer chip fan fail or speed too low ** I went into the bios to see what it was running at and it fluctuated back and forth from 0 - 4787 around there. I Don't know what to do, is my mobo screwed or is there a setting I can change to increase the fan speed or something? while in my bios I didn't see anything I could change to increase the fans speed. Any ideas?

The cheap ass fan they use might be getting ready to die, I doubt its the mobo. Just replace the whole chipset heatsink with a nice one and a good fan.

Hmm I will crack open the case later tonight, I haven't moved it at all since I bought the mobo and it has just recently been acting up, I will see.

That's what i would say. Also i dont believe that the fans are that much money.

Just an inconvience that's all.

Wow I can't believe that it would die like this lol, I've had this computer for about a year, what a crappy fan lol.

can STRONGLY recommend titan vga cooler.

have been using those as chipset cooler since i went nf2 and its a quiet fan last long and is quiet, im running it through a resistor which limits the fan to 3200rpm which makes it completly silent.

also the fan is fastened onto the heatsink with screws which makes it easy to change when need to.

and it isnt expensiv either, about 2 cheap pizza's ;)

I'm assuming you have the cooler that is oriented straight as a square? Ya, that is the old cooler on the board which has a known problem of sucking and dying. You can just contact ASUS and send you a new cooler free. It's not much of a thing, but works well enough that the chipset doesn't overheat. Or you can always just get a new one to be sure.

i have a spare fan if asus fark u about mate...would be happy to post to you in Canada...I am using a Zalman passive chipset cooler on my system...and it works just fine.

Thanks a lot mullet, I will keep you posted and see what they say. I don't see why they wouldn't send me a new one considering I haven't done anything to the board.

Good news, have to say that asus is very quick and reliable when handling problems.
