Problem with usb ports?

Yesterday I started to get a problem where every couple of hours my mouse and keyboard would stop working. At first I assumed the pc had crashed but the second time my music carried on playing. I was re starting the pc manually. But just now it happened again so I tried using different usb ports - still didn't work, I then tried using the case's usb ports and everything worked fine.

Anybody know what is going on

Motherboard is - ASrock H61M-VS

BIOS update?

It has the latest bios, unless there was one released in the last week or so

Still may be worth a reflash. I cant really think of what else it could be, other than a windows driver issue?

I updated the bios and everything seems to be fine now but I am having more worrying problems, every few minutes my computer will run so so slow, web pages will take about 2 minutes to load and if I open my documents etc It will take about 30/40 seconds to load.

Could this be my hard drive? It is about 6 years old I think and according to HDDLife it has had over a years of use
