Hey guys,

Was just wondering about the PPD im getting whilst folding, My SMP is giving me 2,425.4 PPD, whilst for my GPU its giving me 3,210.9 PPD. Are these low? As a friend of mine gets 22k PPD on his intel CPU. My GPU and CPU are running at default clock (3.21Ghz CPU) and 890MHZ for my 6970. And if these are low, would there be a way to increase the PPD?

Many thanks in advance

that's about right

you won't get the extra points from a X6 as -bigadv only works on 8x threads+

and... amd gpus are not great for folding (no CUDA)

it is not how much you fold, or the points you get for the team, but taking part

Thanks for the speedy reply,

How could I increase the PPD on the SMP and GPU? Also the PPD for my CPU is yellow, what does that mean?

I believe -bigadv only works on 16+ threads now

stanford done some changes last month

overclocking will increase you PPD

other than that change to and Intel/Nvidia setup, they seem to get the most points for folding

also yeah it is normal for it to be yellow, should turn green after about 3% is done

Thanks for the help guys

Will try some overclocking, see if it helps. And SMP has done 9% and is still yellow

And what does the yellow/green colour actually mean?

I don't know much about AMD folding. I have read the V7 client is better for AMD/ATI GPUs.

Beyond that you may find you are better off just folding on the X6.

I don't mean like that. Like do you have an AV that might be doing background scans or some rendering/editing in the background of some sort. It's weird that you would get such a massive drop.

Sorry for going off topic.

Hey guys a quick update here,

I was doing a project, PPD counter was at 275 and it was green. It took 7 hours to complete 3%, my amd cpu cant be this bad at folding, can it? I keep getting low PPD on most WU's. This issue is getting frustrating

Hey man,

IIRC i was going to look what a x6 should get , look at the link below,

See other link for PPD 6970,

I am going to train now, after that.. i'll try to find out why you are scoring so low..

Greetings Ray...

Cheers for the charts mate

a x6 @ 3.81 should get 14k PPD according to the chart, currently running on 3.21GHz so im guessing at least 10k or so, thing is, max PPD I've reached is 3k

Just let me know what work unit you need ppd reference wise and i'll look what my stock X6 1055T is pulling just to give you a good idea.

Current WU as in project number? Current project Number is 6098. Been running for about 3-4 hours, PPD is at 0 and is still yellow.
