Ok guys post the time it takes for your system to bootup. It will help people determine which factors help towards a quicker bootup time and will help people improve their systems. I will update peoples results here.

Rules: You take the time in seconds it takes from the time you press the power switch until the time you see the welcome screen or desktop if you are automatically logged on. I did mine to the welcome screen though.

Dave: 39 seconds

Kempez815: 21 seconds

FragTek: 19 seconds

Limqareb: 17 seconds

well ill have a tad extra ram tomorrow and ill defrag soonish and hopefully get the time down a bit. come on peeps, post ur times.

some mobos test memory on boot up time consuming (time depends on ramsize and speed) and doesnt really test well as is not a through test its like test #1 in memtest; u should be able to enable it look for an option in BIOS called quick boot turn it off

Nah I haven't looked around, I was just bluffin' :D An Apple II would be even better with one of the green screen monitors.

I'll post my boot time very soon.

I've just made a custom version of win2k3 with the following removed:

* Internet Explorer Core

* Outlook Express

* Media Player Core

* 16-Bit Compatability

* 8.3 File Description Compat.

* All Crappy MS Accessories

* Autoupdate Functions

* System Recovery

All i need now is some blank CD's to burn my ISO and reinstall :D :yumyum:

good job but wouldnt be suited to my needs:

8.3 file description is used by norton and a few of my other programs. it would probably mess a lot of things up.

i need system restore cos i tend to fuck up pretty badly sometimes ;)

if media player core gets rid of mediaplayer classic then i would never remove that. it is microsofts best app by far lmao. i use it over wmp10 any day.

16 bit compatibilty is needed for one of my games (sonic :P)

and when ya get blanks u owe me an office cd :P
