Poor 7800GTX SLI overclock: what can I do?

It seems like everyone bu me got their 7800GTX core overclocked far beyond 500MHz. I'm currently stuck at 498Mhz (and 1379 for the memory which I am happy with). I have both the cards properly watercooled so what am I doing wrong? I got the Galaxy ones btw and Rivatuner.

Will the XFX bios flash really give me something? Should I Vmod those cards (and if yes, any link to some well documented website about this would be appreciated).

Thanks.

Warlord Shigs is the guy to mod your cards for ya.

Me, Gollum4444 and Scorchio all had volt mods done.

For plain vanilla overclocks usign Rivatuner and forcing teh clock speeds or disabling teh clock test will help you find you best overclock.

I can tell you now that pre-volt mods I achieved a 520/1475 overclock using rivatuner, gollum444 and Scorchio both got around 530/1420 using BIOS flashing.

Volt modded and watercooled or chilled will allow you to get 600/1500 if you opt for VDIMM anf VCORE mods.

maverik-sg1, I am a bit confused. So there's a way to disable the clock test in Rivatuner? Those 530/1420 are then before you volt modded your cards using simply an unlocked Rivatuner? Do you think that BIOS flashing helped gollum444 and Scorchio to get those values?

Thanks.

BIOS flashing does help a little, but you need to find your own linits on your card - I would expect to see at least 515 core clocks (I have galaxy units also).

I Rivatuner, under power settings, there is a option in the area titled Nvidia overclocking where you can activate the 'disable internal clock test' This will allow you to set the clocks (core and memory) at whatever you want.

As a guide you should be able to achieve at least 515/1400, I suggest you start there and work your way upwards. You have to use Rivatuner to adjust your clocks though.

Be mindful that you will probably experience lock-ups while trying your limits - this is normal and part of the fun of getting extreme.

Also, you can just back-up your own BIOS and flash your own clock speeds, which is better than using the XFX BIOS - or you can use the Generic modded BIOS that presets your clocks at 500/1400.

Or PM me and I'll send the files/link to ya. TEAM EPUK NEEDS YOUR BENCHMARKING RESULTS!!!

Cheers
