PNY reveals their budget-oriented CS1311 series of SSDs

It's PNwhy, not PNwho *SCNR*

What exactly do you mean with pretend lifetime warranty?

They used to give a lifetime warranty with their GPUs. Only it was a Lifetime**11starstar lifetime warranty.

If your card failed after the first year and you applied for this lifetime warranty they quickly told you that it actually meant the lifetime of production. IE - as soon as the last GPU of that type rolled off of the end of the production line it no longer had any warranty at all.

And we all know how long a computer part remains in production these days. About five minutes.

So yeah, total scam and not a company I would want to buy stuff from. My mate got royally screwed when his GTX 570 died just after a year. "It's OK" he said "I have a lifetime warranty on it". Only he didn't, and PNY were quick to tell him to get lost.

LOL that's some real scam! I thought something like that was legally regulated and would come out as "false advertising".

Mate it probably does now. This was a few years ago obs (GTX 570 and all) but yeah I would imagine they were given quite a slap for that. They don't do it now, nor really make any desktop GPUs.

They obviously did it to be like BFG. However, they did not mean it like BFG did.

Lifetime

I find that strange. I have purchased a fw products from PNY and had a somewhat similar experience that turned out positive.
The exact same GPU failed me after 1 year and 5 months.
I submitted a claim and PNY honored it straight away. The only requirements that had to be met were.
Product registration when I purchased and provide them with a copy of the original invoice.
Once that was done they sent me a refurbished GPU that served me well till I sold that unit.
Yes, it was refurbished and not brand new but they did honor the warranty as welas sent it our with a return label for the faulty GPU.
Maybe I got lucky I don't know.

It's probably dependent on where you live. I think they were able to do it in US, but EU regulations would hammer them hard if they tried the same fake warranty here. Or maybe other way around. I only had one PNY card back in the 00's and it failed after 1 week. Swapped to another brand and never touched them again.
