Please Suggest A Intel Cpu Under 300$

HELLO TECHGURUS

Could u please suggest a INTEL CPU(only) under 300$. ARe 4 cores better than 2 . i am confused about some things like a core 2 duo costs only 200$ but a Quad Core costs 250$. IS THIS LIKE U GET 2 MORE CORES FOR ABOUT 50$ COME ON HELP!!!!!
