Planning a build for Christmas.

I am planning to build my first pc this Christmas as long as I have saved up enough money by then. I was wondering if you can look at my list so far and tell me anything that I have missed. Nothing is set in stone at the moment as it is still all planning. I will be making modifications to the specs leading up to the time that I start to order but I want to make sure that I haven’t missed anything out. Also whether the fittings i have chosen will fit and best tubing as also my first water cooling build.

Some sleeved cables would be nice. Other than that this is a really solid build.

Seems like you've done your research. I personally don't know about watercooling though.

Only things I'd say it that the Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM is pretty overpriced. I must admit that it looks nice, but some G.Skill Ares Orange might look really good in this build.

Also, Samsung 840 Pro and Evo SSDs are epic. Would personally pick them over the Kingston one.

Last thing is that when you use your fans for rads, you might want to switch to NF-P12s. NF-F12s would work okay though. If you want looks, the Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition or the Bitfenix Spectre Pros are pretty good.

I was going to see if I like the cables that come stock then get/make sleeved cables if I dont.

Yer i know the Platinums are overpriced but i love the look :) do you think it would make much of a difference between the 1866 vs the 2400 taking in price into account? and I dont like the look of the G.Skill Ares Orange.

I will look into the 840 Pro/Evo

I personally like the looks of the Noctua fans :)

looks nice to me. Nothing wrong with that Kingston ssd i have 2 of the 240Gb versions in raid couldnt be happier. Also I see led lighting why not just look at some led fans like the pwm Spectre pro's from bitfenix I have the non pwm ones and they do a great job and are quite. the pwm versions sport a heftier static pressure to them so should be alot better.

Sleeved one always look better imo. If you have the money for it, by all means go for it.

I guess, it's just personal preference. I think the orange RAM dimms will look good in the orange board :)

The Evo SSDs are rather new, but they are relatively cheap and from the benchmarks I've seen, pretty close to the 840 Pro performane-wise.

Haha, well that's a first. You mad man :p Whatever works for you though ;)

i would prefer to use led lighting as i want to be able to place it where i want to get the best look. and also after all i have heard about Noctua its going to be a hard sell to get me not to buy then :)

You can't game with 2 monitors sooo i hope you can fit another 1440p monitor into the budget. Other than that IMO the build is way overpriced and overkill.. but from that point of view it's pretty solid.

Edit: Best to buy all the parts at once in one day. With a lot of new tech coming out in 4th quarter of the year it would be a shame to be behind tech already.

Yeah, gaming on one 1440p monitor is stressful enough. I agree that it's kind of overkill but if you're a hardcore gamer and have the money, I don't really see the problem.

What about the water cooling side of things. Is there a brand of tubing that is considered better? And would the fitting work?

Also was is the deal with rma of a graphics card after overclocked and water blocked?

You've definitely done your research. This looks like a solid build. Only thing I would possibly change is the SSDs for a samsung 840 pro or Evo but that's it

Edit: It's nice to see someone with a build like this that realises they don't need a 50,000 Watt PSU

If by "research" you mean watching Linus, Logan and Tom every day for the last 2 years then yes i have :) do you think i should find something else to do with my time?

haha no not at all it wasn't a criticism. Just complimenting you on a very nice choice of components, I'm very jealous!
