I agree with you to some aspect that the business model is sadly following that of CoD with what we can now expect is a new battlefield every bloody year. However I still don't think BF3 is much lesser of a game than BF2 was. the community was prob etter previously but despite the loss of the commander system i still think bf3 improved upon the formula. As i said though i completely agree with you that BF is unfortunately likely to follow in the steps of COD
and as long as EA is in charge that won't change. i talk to people who play BF3 and they never heard of quake, they think mods only exist for minecraft etc., the new generation of gamers is rotten.
BF3 was definitely no improvement. the destruction model in BC2 was better (even though i am not a fan of destruction at all), the graphics look nice, but they ruin the gameplay and i most certainly dont play a multiplayer fps for the graphics, weapons are either OP as f*ck or completely unusable, DLC weapons are usually better than vanilla weapons, the patch support is a joke (3 months to fix the heavy barrel m26 dart bug, that could have been fixed in less than 24 hours), they ban people for modifying the game under the pretext of that they had a certain idea of how the game should look and that they don't want that to change, but really they just dont want people to be aware of how modable the engine is so they dont ask for mod support, and of course the worst community i can think of.
no freakin way i will give a shit about any future games published by EA.
It's really sad that a bunch of kids who are impressed by shaders are the majority of gamers and because of them we get flooded with crappy games. the last fps i really loved released in 2010, which was BC2 and it's the only game i ever really liked that has no mod support, before that it was 2007 (cod4) and before that 1999 (Q3). sad times.
well, rise of the triad will release soon, and even though the movement will probably be rather lame it might be some fun. i wont compare it to quake though, more to UT maybe.

i really need to stop with the topic BF3. i have been ranting about that for too long, but every mind i open up with this discussion is a win.
