I have not seen many "Xbox Trash Can" memes yet but it can only be a matter of time.
This must really suck for them, but I wonder if that comment of "We will share our real plans when we are ready" will cause them issues with the court case over the purchase of Activision because that comment could be interpreted as they have provided "False Information/Plans" in order to get the purchase approved.
They are buying Nintendo shares, but they have zero chance of ever owning them same go's for valve as much as they would like too, they have absolutely zero chance on either of them.

I fully expect that both company's wouldn't allow a take over and have things in place to stop it, Nintendo are in a better place than say a decade ago and valve i doubt very much would want any outside influence or in truth would ever need the money despite the M$ history behind the company being the whole reason valve came to where they are, I also expect steam makes more money than all 3 consoles combined.

When you are a corporation you don't have much choice. You need to answer to your shareholders, and that is just how it is.
And the majority shareholder? can make the majority of decisions I would guess.
BTW Microsoft are just "Doing an Nvidia" here. They have realised that their OS will only get them so far, and like Nvidia have had many failed projects such as hardware and so on. So they are just broadening their business so that it has many more facets than just a two trick pony.
If Linux keeps progressing they will lose their market share with Windows at some point too.
Thing is even if shares are listed to the market a company can retain a 51% hold of the shares meaning while holders of course get a say and return the real control remains in the companys hands, would be very foolish to put 100% of the shares of the company on a market as you would in time lose the whole company through trades. Some have done this in the past by simply putting out notice they will buy all shares at a far higher price than the market rate.
If linux could support all games and i do mean all past current and future, I honestly feel I'd have zero reason to use windows and actually have a lot more reason to use linux, unless I was a pro creator for a studio or film industry that relied on certain software licences tbh an easy switch.
