Phanteks changes the name of their Enthoo Luxe 2 case following complaints from TT

Seriously fk Thermaltake.

Remember this sht?

And now CaseLabs is out of business.

Thermal-TAKE!

Umm, TT didn't put Case Labs out of business, Donald Trump's tariffs did. Plus, anyone who gets confused between Case Labs and Thermaltake doesn't deserve a nice case. :D That TT / Case Labs crap was WAY overblown by a bunch of idiot fanboys who saw similar grill patterns as the "be all end all". No one gets confused between STEEL and AIRCRAFT GRADE ALUMINUM. Just lift the bloody thing and you'll see quite the difference.

Plus, and I say this as a fan of Case Labs, their grill pattern was NOT ORIGINAL. CL started out building custom racks in server rooms, and that grill pattern was all over the place back in the day, on everything from IBM mainframes to Sun Microsystems hardware, etc. So they copied it, because it was a proven design for good airflow. That's what it made it so laughable when people started freaking about about TT "ripping off" Case Labs, due to a similar mesh pattern that wasn't even theirs to begin with. The more you know...

They said this to put blame and not face the truth. Reality is the US economy is seeing the most explosive growth in decades and virtually all markets are seeing growth with interest rates at extremely low levels. The fact that they still couldn't keep up in business just means they were already struggling on top of the fact that Trump reduced taxes for businesses by 14%.

No, they said that because Trump administration specifically put tariffs on aluminium and made the business commercially unviable.

I know what they said. And as I said in my post, it's just to point blame for a business that wasn't making money to begin with even with a booming economy and making it commercially more likely for success on top of the fact taxes were reduced significantly to the point where the tax cut literally is more than the increase in tariff on aluminum.

Funny from a company who basically copied the Caselabs designs. I was not exactly upset over it as you can't really patent a design like that and it was not like the TT quality was remotely close to that of Caselabs, but this is just dumb of TT to do.

Good on Phanteks for not wasting money on attorneys but bummer they changed the name.

Agreed just easier to change the name.

Caselabs went out of business because of poor business management of some sort that we will never know about, truth sucks and I say that as a fan of their work. I have two of their BH2 chassis. If it was the tariffs why is Sliger still around? Being based in California did not help them either, it is amazing they stayed in business as long as they did in that tax hungry state. Manufacturing in CA must be one of the worst places to do that type of work in the USA.

Lets not try to imply that a 10-25% hike in price of aluminium-steel alone(The basic implications of those tariffs) is a small change for companies like this, there's a good chance that for such a niche market that would have wiped out their margins.

This has gone on for long enough that we have a fair bit of analysis though, experts at the Peterson Institute for International Economics put the current damage to the US economy from steel and aluminium tarriffs at $900,000 per job created in the US steel/aluminium manufacturing industry, of which the bulk of the damage would be for companies like this, that use these metals as an input. The wider impact to the economy is hidden behind the gains from the metal production industries, but this has just essentially shuffled money from US companies that use these metals to US companies that produce them, with no net benefit from this specific policy found in any analysis afaik.

Ok Trumper,

Cryorig directly mentioned Trump's tariffs as the reason they are struggling in the CPU cooler market. Trying to deny or deflect the reality of the tariffs is just stupid.

Burrrrrrrrrrrrn.

For a geek you really aren't that smart and then resort to insulting straight away lol

Guys, can we please knock off on the politics? We don't need to insult each other here. This isn't a Caselabs thread anyway.

A lot was wrong with how Caselabs conducted their business. The tariffs were just the straw that broke the camel's back. They left a lot of demand on the table, and that gave Thermaltake and other manufacturers an in.

It is also worth remembering that it was Caselabs' parent company that failed, and that it took Caselabs down with it.
