nope it is not onboard i have a separte chip which goes into the pci x slot
 
i dont have an onboard one i just got this audimax 7.1 soundcard pci x with the mobo but i should be getting an xfi soon

i didint buy it i got it with the Abit AW9D Max anyway i have one thing to say on the mobo it is just fantastic you gotta love it :D

The Abit AW9D-MAX doesn't have any PCI-X slots. :nono:

It's an Intel HD card. Not worth bothering with tbh.

Edit : Looking at the design spec, the board is only a riser for the audio sockets/connectors, the audio chips is actually onboard the mobo.
