PC6400 with 266mhz Bus Speed ?

I have a MSI P965 Platinum motherboard, Core2Duo E6300 and Geil 2X512 4/4/4/12 PC6400 (800mhz) memory.

The cpu/mobo runs at 266 mhz default speed which is normal, but the memory obviously can handle more. My question is that ATM it runs in 2:3 FSB / MMR ratio, what ratio / bus speed should I use to overclock and get the best out of my memory ? I'm actually a bit lost by having a memory that can handle more and is "downclocked" with this 2:3 ratio ...

I can't change the ratio in the mobo settings but only the memory speed (533 666 800 etc) +voltage of course.

don't worry, you are not underclocking your memory.

it's a common misconception, but it's not actually 800mhz memory, but DDR800

with a 266 bus speed and a 2:3 ratio on the memory, you are running the memory at 400MHz or DDR800 (double data rate)
