A UK outfit, Jadeintegration is to flog a thin client computer that fits into a wall socket and is powered via Ethernet.

The Jack PC can hook up to a standard monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and runs Windows CE, the stripped-down version of Windows often used in portable devices.

It ships with 64 MB of flash memory and 128 megs of RAM and while it cannot handle a game of NeverWinter Nights 2, it can do basic interweb functions. It runs on 5W of energy and has a built in IE 6 browser.

It is not that cheap. It will set you back between £229- £299 depending on your spec. Given the fact that you need to buy a monitor and keyboard it probably works out about the same as a budget PC.

would make an excellent hardware firewall box surely? It could sit outside the pc and filter incoming traffic, and even handle torrent downloads onto an external hdd without it affecting your main pc's performance - once set up you could probably write it a web based interface and never have to hook up a kb/mouse/tft....
