passive v active

OK so I've recently switched from assive to active watercooling and the one big question I have is....

how do you stand it?????

I'm sat here now with my new active WC system running, PA120.3 , scythe 800rpm fans etc and I can't bear it......it's far too noisy, I might as well live next to an air field

I want my uber silent passive back (sadly now on one of the directors HTPC's but I seriously will fight him to get it back as this active cooling is awful

please save my sanity and tell me what I'm doing wrong as air cooling would be quieter!!!!!

add a shroud and some modded to 7v yate loons.. silence.. also you will need extra gaskets (i use 1 between fans/shroud shroud/rad rad/case) so 2 will be needed as u get 1 with the rad

done and done, gaskets, controller, can't stand the noise.

I'd rather not overclock and have silence that this!!!!!!!!

lol. I've not done watercooling, but sounds like a trade off for a cooler system is the noise.

Yea as in any situation pretty much, in the same setup, noisier=better performance.

Undervolted 800rpm fans should be almost inaudible (to the human ear) at 1 meter distance.

Usually fans are the worst noise offenders so I agree with using a fan controller to undervolt all your fans (rad & case fans) as much as possible. Oh, and if your loop is not fully bled then trapped air can cause some noise too.
