Painting MSI gaming motherboard

Hi all.

The MSI Gaming series motherboards are among the best looking ones according to me. I'm going to do a build in a white/black H440 and just out of curiosity, is it possible to paint the red on the heatsinks on these motherboards? If so, how would it be done? And what paint should I choose?

I'm thinking a white or light grey paint to go with the intended theme in the case, which is going to be black and white :)

Just a quick scetch in photoshop so you can see what I mean. Only bothered "painting" the dragon.

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Since you are not really covering a lot of the board...i would think you could use a high heat paint (like Rustoleum makes outdoor grill spray paint - in white) - but... you would have to tape off the dragon ...

can that heatsink come off?

Mask out the heat sink and use Plasti-Dip it has a high thermal tolerance and gives a nice clean finish.

Can I do that with the heatsinks on the board? Or is it easier to do it with them off? Spraypaint or handpaint with a small brush? :)

If your not confident with masking I'd say remove the sinks from the board before you paint it, the great thing with plasti-dip is that you can peal it later as it's a polymer based paint so it drys somewhat like a latex/rubberised/plastic.

Take them off. Don't mess around anywhere near the PCB if you don't know what you're doing. Not even mentioning the fact you'd have to wrap the whole thing in tape.

I'd say use spraypaint for a thin, even layer. You can't really do that with a brush.
