p5k temps wrong

Anyone else either seen this problem or know how to fix it?

Just put together my new system and the m'board and cpu don't want to play. The p5k deluxe reads the CPU temp as 12 degress and this is wrong it is a standard water cooling loop with no chiller or anything. The processor is an E6850 which has roughly the same thermal output of the old processor which read on the p5wd2-e as 32 degrees. All bios updates have been tried including the new beta 50?? one.

Any ideas

i believe it's because of the new 1333 fsb cpu, causing the low cpu temp readings, not the mobo

most if not all of the dual core E6*50 chips seem to be reporting extremely low temps, below ambient readings are not uncommon

most people have been using coretemp

http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/

but this also reports low temps, so most peeps have been guestimating and adding on 10-15C or so

current software may need to be updated for the new chips

theres a bios update for the p5k standard version to fix this but it was out a while ago so i wonder why asus haven't pulled the finger out and got one for the deluxe. Can you install that bios on the deluxe or would that be a bad idea?

okay thanks for the help..

I was going to go try some overclocking but ill have to be real careful if I've no sound temps to go by

Edit: wrong place!

Edit 2: Dave - not the thread, I accidentally posted a reply to another thread in here, so I edited it to say wrong place.

Sorry.

See my re-edited post.

Different mobo, but I updated my bios last night - before it read 15 deg cpu in bios, w/cooled.

Now it is 28 - i.e - correct.

okay well that is a help in a way. I am trying to do some oc but need temp ideas, everyone is saying add about 15 degrees and that seems to be what you have found too. What board was it?
