P5k deluxe, possibly the most annoying board ever

Well I'm having more hassle with the P5k Deluxe and if anyone can help I would be most obliged.

This time its the sound card. I have a x-fi xtremegamer which worked fine with my p5wd2-e and still works fine on my dads computer (thats how much it annoyed me I went to his house and tried the stupid thing). So I am pretty sure its the board that is not playing. It will either not complete the driver install, crash before windows or not find it at all in windows. Also there is a little red light on the board no matter which of the 2 slots i install it in which according to the manual mean its not installed correctly. I am currently on the latest bios, i think its 501 and this is a beta release but that was to try and fix the cpu temp problems, which it didn't. I can't seem to find this problem discussed much on any forum.

Any ideas?

sorry for answering my own query, it seems a bit self indulgent but i figured it out.

The silver backing plate was not letting the card seat fully in my custom case and this motherboard was obviously fractions of a millimeter different from the last one. So once the backing plate was off it worked.
