whats the chance of overclocking this a tad on stock cooling;

AMD Athlon64 3200 Venice

Abit AX8 Motherboard

512mb ram

any thoughts?

Yeah you should get a modest OC on that. Maybe around 2.2-2.4GHz...maybe higher depending on the chip.

I'd still get better than stock air tho :)

Follow Frags guide carefully, checking the temps carefully and report back :)

Add a divider if the RAM won't go as high :)

Stick to a 10x multi as unless its real good RAM it won't be worth lowering the multi to 9x

they had a deal on this ram, so i got it, it doesnt say a make which is never good ::P

512MB 6-Layer V-Data PC3200 DDR SDRAM

nope not good at all, you may have to run a large divider or it wont go above 220mhz

Agreed. BUT you'll be running at better timings (hopefully) and may be able to push those a little lower in that field with a bit of voltage. Though running a big divider does have a disadvantage in bandwidth: the tighter timings and the excellent on-die memory controller of the A64 should mean that the hit won't be too big :)
