Overclocking my CPU Killed my RAM Slots

Now this may be a small or very large issue. Here are the facts:

System Specs:
Intel Core i7 2700k
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
16GB DDR3 RAM. (3x 4GB Kingston ValueRAM Low Form Factor)(1x 4GB Corsair XMS3)
4x Hard Drives (not sure each model is relivant)
NVidia GTX670 2GB

Here is what happened:

The core i7 was new and I had just installed it. I had just installed it and went to overclock it to 5Ghz that was successful but then the computer just randomly shut down and then I thought the board had died so after around an hour of trouble shooting I put my old i5 back in the PC and with the one stick of ram in slot 1 it booted I was gob smacked.

Now the I7 is back in and the computer is operational at 4.5 GHz how ever ports 2 and 4 will not work it's very frustrating for me I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of not having to buy another board as I cannot afford it until next year.

Thanks for any help!

Woah hold up... Are you saying you installed the i7 and immeditately overclocked it to 5ghz? Did you just set up random settings to see if it worked?

Just put the i7 in went in the bios and put the multiplier upto 50 lol

Well that was a bit stupid, to be honest...

Do those two RAM slots still work with the i5 installed? Did you try the RAM Dimms that do work in the 'broken slots'? What are your RAM specs (voltage and such)?

I very much doubt the RAM slots would get damaged from a terrible overclock. Maybe the RAM controller in the CPU?

Sounds more like you have buggered the IMC on the chip.Just putting a random 50 in the bios is a STUPID thing to do.

Take that battery out for the evening son.

Also:

Make sure to manually set identical ram speeds/timings and voltages if possible, if not, go with 8gb of matching.

My 2700k does not like having all four dimm slots populated when overclocked above about 4.6, without a slight bump in memory controller voltage (VCCIO? I forget..)

Status Update for this evening,

So I have tried the following:

Put the i5 back in and the PC and tried all 16GB of RAM, Done exactly the same thing.

(Take a look at the attachment)

In that picture the RAM Slots highlighted will not let the computer boot at all with a DIMM in the slot. All 4 of my DIMM's are working perfectly both CPU's are doing the same thing it has to be the board?

In reply to Tom, i have cleared the BIOS to defaults at least 5-6 times now so it can't be that.

Actually though thinking about it did you mean Flash the BIOS because i didn't try that.

I would have to say if the Flashing of the BIOS doesn't work then whatever I done with the Overclock fucked those DIMM ports rendering them unusable.

Any other suggestions from you guys or is it a new motherboard?

NRG!, Im currently on 4.5GHz Stable. Even with the CPU at stock defaults it will not boot.
