is it worth overclocking?

atm current stock settings are

Core Frequency: 590MHz

Memory Frequency: 1900MHz

what program would be Most reliable for overclocking with these 768mb graphic cards as well, thanks.

Wouldn't bother overclocking it if you are finding that games are running great at the moment, which they should be on a 8800 GTX, as there wouldn't be a need to do so unless you just wanted some high scores in 3DMark06. Although just as a note, I tend to find the best tools for overclocking cards is either ATi Tool or Rivatuner. Also, ATI Tool was originally built for ATi cards, but you can use it just find for Nvidia cards.

you mean iv got to find Ati Tool, but for the Nvidia cards version,or can i use the same ati tool i use to OC my ati cardswith the nvidia cards??

I've heard GTX can get between 610 and 650MHz on the core, sometimes 2000 on the mem. Considering you're already up from 500 to 590 on the core, I'd say it's not worth voiding the warranty.

You can use the version that you use on your ATI cards, the program works with most cards regardless of being Nvidia or ATI.

RivaTuner works great on the GTX and also allows you to set the fan speed to whatever you want.

I'm running mine at stock as no games I play tax it

Okay well as any of use have been reading iv been O.C the card alot lately, just trying to find its full Potential, so anyways the Max i could go...atm was 660/1970 , stock settings are 590/1900.in my Last attempt to try and get abit more out of it, i notched it upto 670/1980 and with no luck on the first attempt it froze straight away,so i put the fan upto 100% from 50% using riva tuner 2.02 and it at least made it past the first test, only to freeze again during the 2nd test,am i doing something wrong here? or is 660/1970 the cards Final O.C specs, any ideas are welcome as im always looking to go that extra step to get more Juice out of it ;)

I'm using RivaTuner 2.06 to OC my Inno3D 8800GTX (stock version, not Factory OC).

It's stable at

Core: 630 MHz

Shader: 1475MHz

Memory: 1045 MHz (2090MHz Effective).

You might find thta the core is holding you back, so if you unlinked Core and Shader clocks, you can push a bit more out of the Shader.

BTW, I just found out that some of the 8800GTX cards have issues when running memory at faster that 1000MHz. Should I think about dropping my memory clock back to 1000Mhz?
