Renel, Does that asrock motherboard allow you to lock the PCI/AGP busses? There should be an option in the bios to lock them to 33mhz/66mhz. If you've got that option, turn it on, and start raising the FSB speed 5mhz at a time.
I hate to say it tho, but Asrock motherboards are not known for their overclockability.
what kind of 2600+ you have? Barton? Tbred? if are tbred, what FSB? 266 or 333?
the Barton processor have a good name in overclock world, you can force it more and have a more stable system than tbred... but the MOBO is the key for good OC..
and as XMS said, the asrock isn´t a good choice to OC...
if you post what model is your 2600+ maybe we could help more
That mobo will not be good for overclocking as it has a VIA chipset. Typically they do not have PCI locks.
If you want to overclock (and that CPU will oc well ) then I would suggest a new motherboard. Cheap Nforce chipset motherboards are everywhere, but look for an ABIT NF7 or an Asus A7N8X-X. If you can afford a bit more or want SATA then the NF7-S v2.0 and the DFI Ultra Infinity NF2 will do well.
wit stock coolin its possible to get the AXP 2600 up 2 aroud 2.1 (with AS5) this is the equiv of a 3000+ axp but due to that 11.5 multi u will reach speds with less ram bandwith than if it were a 2500+ (so when u run @ 2200MHz u will not get speed equiv to a Axp3200+ as ur ram will b @191 MHz instead of 200Mhz).
You gonna need a Nforce 2 chipset mobo -the dfi lanparty NFII mobo is v good as is the one i use the abit NF7-S(get ver 2.00 tho)
