£275 really isn't anything to brag about  That's the price it should've been at launch and slowly gone down from there.

its true, never should have charged that much, i mean for an extra £30-40 you could go X99 which is so much better value for money, now lets hope the prices slowly decrease!

Lets be honest there is no chance at all the prices are dropping overall, despite the terrible thermal solution for an unlocked chip, the lack of a temporary cooler and all of the teething issues that faced skylake. The 6700k still doesn't make a fat lot of sense and i'm sure when Broadwell-E comes things will get even more confused and expensive. The 6600k is where things are critical at a sensible price/performance point for gamers and at £200 they are still a bit pricey.

The price will drop if it's not selling, which it obviously isn't. I heard that the initial excuse was that they didn't have masses of them, so hiked the price to get rid of X99 instead.

I still think it's still too expensive. IIRC I paid £220 for a I7 950 on the 6th December 2010. And the funny thing is AMD were no competition then, either. The closest they had was the 1090t and you needed all of the cores threading to benefit.

OCUK are just using this price drop as a sales pitch.

Glad I moved to X99 instead of Skylake, Gonna drop a 6900K in my board when it's out, Love that Intel have given us that upgrade route :)

OCUK are just using this price drop as a sales pitch.

They are retailers, they sell things. None of the other big guys with similar buying power have dropped that far so clearly it's something to shout about. They could of 'just' used it to increase their margins.

Indeed.

In general I find OCUK's prices really good and if you find something cheaper elsewhere you can phone em up and they'll price match 9 out of 10 times anyway :)

Things arent all that bad here now, especially with most shops accepting PayPal. So I can screw them over anytime I want if them pull any kind of **** as long as it is in the 180 day window.

Most of the larger one are quite decent though.
