Overclockers UK Kicks Off Black Friday with Incredible Offers

I don't know why I keep looking tbh :D

Hope? prayer? thing is I don't even bloody need one, but my mate is desperate.

I think the LG monitor in the article isn’t on sale, but rather on a price premium this time around ^_^

LG 27GP850-B 1440p Nano IPS 165Hz FreeSync/G-Sync Compatible Gaming Monitor -Was £298.99 - Now £378.95

I still cannot believe people think that "Black Friday Sales" are real!

Prices are bumped up weeks before, and typically everything can be found much cheaper at other times in the year and in some cases the week following the so called "Black Friday" sales have finished.

Not seen anything that is genuinely on sale yet.

Black Friday is actually a scam for non electrical. There is a loophole regarding "sales"

If you have a franchise with 50 stores. Take any product or garments A,B, and C.
product A costs £25 retail. If they raise the price to £50 in 49 stores, and leave ONE store at £25 they are legally allowed to call that product in the one store as being on Sale with 50% off. They can do that in all 50 stores, with products B and C and more, having 1 product remain the same price, and raise it everywhere else.

Of course there are genuine deals to be made, but there is definately a plethora or deceiving tricks to fool you into thinking you got a deal.

I think electronic products especially online are often legit. There are many "price checking" sites that show you which site has the lowest product. And these sites monitor prices all the time to show you trends. I dont think sites like OCUK will raise them because you will see that has been done.

I think OCUK just flat out rip off their customers from Day 1. (excluding inflation etc.)
Wouldnt surprise me if every product uses a cost plus model.

But surely anyone with half a noggin knows how much something normally costs and can tell if something is genuinely on sale or not.

Not always noticeable if its a minor bump like £5 for the retailer its a nice profit per item. Also those window shopping or just out for a good deal with no specific goal probably wont be aware.

Those who have a targeted Wishlist will know for sure.

I generally don't bother unless something has a significant drop in price and even then I'll do a comparison on other sites.

not sure what the UK equivalent is, but sites like this prisjakt.no are great for comparing, and looking at price trends. Shows you if prices have increased over time or not.

Sites like this make OCUK cautious on what they try to do in order to profit more.

Yep, Not long ago I was looking at getting an NVME drive, Shopped around and the same version on OCUK was around £40 more expensive, That's a pretty huge chunk of difference which is why I mostly buy elsewhere now.

it's been easy to avoid thou buy from scan aria ebuyer ect and just don't goto their site never seen them at good prices ever in many years ever since they were sold years back.

last nvme drive i got was 2nd hand off ebay saved a good £60 off the new price :)

CCL i found to be good but after them scalping the gpu prices i'll never use them again, but black friday while not going to get a deal as such you will at least get the normal lower price on some things i feel just generally there are sales all the time like steam ect always sales never ending sales.

Last year was disappointing, I guess covid affected it but there was nothing of real interest. Obviously its personal opinion, but the year prior I think I bought all my ML120 fans (16) for around £80 total.

Amazon christmas presents (booze, echo etc) and storage IIRC.

Other than that? yeah not much to write home about.
