It's a better OS, don't see why you wouldn't do it manually

Yeah I know but you have the 'hanger onners' who will be up in arms about it :D

Shock horror, some of us run systems that aren't bare bones driver/software/etc wise and need a more mature OS. If this was after a year then I'm sure there would be less complaints from us 'hanger onners' but I'd like a rig that actually works as it does currently under 8.1 .

And you assume I'm on a barebones rig why?
I'm using occasionally UE4 and it works just as well for me on 10 as it did on 7. My conversation audio software also works just as great along with my monitor software(even with that one update people said it made it stop working). I've used plenty of non"barebones" essentials. It works well. Do a clean install and try it now and see for yourself. If W10 sucks so bad there wouldn't be a reason to explain why it's the fastest adopted OS from them.

Also I never said W8 sucked.. I just said W10 was better.

Its the first time they've spammed the 'upgrade now for FREE' stuff. If it was a paid upgrade the uptake would be a whole lot less significant.

I have tried 10 numerous times, both with clean installs and as an upgrade. I've had the technical preview on my laptop since it first came out too so I know 10 very well. Its just currently not compatible with PC. I've had so much crap with 10 its not funny.

I'd wager 15% of them are people sick and tired of closing the "Upgrade now" popup.

Having used all of them there are plenty of bits of Win10 that, as a power user who knows where his files are, drive me freaking nuts. Take your libraries, recently visited places and files you've opened regularly and go forth and multiply. Beyond DX12 I can't see any obvious benefits, but oodles of privacy drawbacks, even if you do the Enterprise/Hosts workaround to shut most of it up.

I'll cling onto my "it works exactly how I desire" Windows 7 until it ceases to be useful.

They hardly collect data and much less than any social media stuff you upload. Besides it's very simple to shut it off, I don't see it as a drawback when you have the option to turn it off permanently using something like UWT4, which is a very useful tool in general.

Yeah no worries dude. I was only having a fun poke hence the :D emoticon :)

I hear you too, because I do like 8.1 and won't be 'upgrading' it on my TV PC. BTW if you wanted a fix for the auto update try this, though do note I've not used it and YMMV.

HTH !

Do a quick search via Windows 10 for a, ahem, "digital" film/game you've downloaded. Watch how many network packets get sent here and there. Wait patiently for the knock at the door.

Also I don't do social media (beyond Twitter which hardly counts). I joined the internet when it was a dark and scary place. Just because everyone else is on it hasn't stopped it being dark and scary.
