Optimizing Software

Hey Guys, My PC is running great at the moment, but is it worth installing optimizing software to keep it running fast? If so what would you guys recommend to install? Cheers

Not at all. 9.9 times outta 10 there's no need and it's just a gimmick. Only thing i run occasionally is Piriform CCleaner but i don't know what other members' opinion is on that

Best way to optimize is to avoid installing anything unnecessary and making sure there are no unnecessary programs loading on boot. :)

Thanks for the advice, I am thinking on the lines of cookies, adware, malware etc. and the best way/ways of dealing with these type of threats. Also, is it better to use 3rd. party software or windows security etc.

If you want to be secure in terms of browsing, disable Javascript by default and have a whitelist of trusted domains. Takes a while to set up, and you have to allow any new site manually, but I think it is worth it. You can do this with Opera by default or with NoScript for firefox. I am sure other vrowsers have such add-ons as well.

Hey Guys, Thanx for all your suggestions, much appreciated. I will ahev a go and let you know how i get on. Cheers
