opteron code names

hello all, first off just want to say what a top site your running here.

im very new to this o/clocking game and even newer to AMD cpu's so im hoping someone can give me a bit of info, ive just bought an opteron 146 and was under the impresion it was based on the san diago core (sorry about spelling) can any tell me why its code named VENUS in CPUZ v1.31 i would be grateful for any help cheers.

because the program doesnt recognize socket 939 opterons, it just calls them socket 940 opterons. (i think this is the answer)

I think they renamed the san diego core to venus for the opterons.Although they are essentially the same

Latest version of cpu-z detects the opterons as 939 and like tom has said, Just a renamed core
