When playing with real money the chances of getting a good hand would be slim.. They would code the game differently..
True, but a good hand is not necessarily needed when playing texas-holdem.
As long as you don't do it too often and don't have to show your hand, bluffing's good.
When I said i fancied a go, I did mean online poker
I've played a few times in casinos and amongst friends and it helps that you can see your fellow players. Good players hate rookies (that's me!) playing for short bursts cos they are unpredictable when playing for low stakes.
Online play for fun is even worse since there's nothing to lose.
You find people always trying to bluff Ace-High, hoping for another on the turn or river.
Personally, I will usually fold if I don't get either a pair or two cards over ten in my hand. Although I will look at the flop if I'm big/small blind and nobody raises.
We used to play 3 card brag but it could easily get way out of hand, so now we just all stick 20 quid in a kitty and grab 20,000 in chips. at the end of the night, we share the money out, by chip count.
There's nothing like skinning your mates for 160 quid
If only I wasn't mostly on the receiving end
