i have just accidently clocked my 3800 newcastle to 3ghz, i didnt even think it could do 3ghz, last time i tried i think 2.85 was the maximum i could get out of it and was looking at buying a san diego but then this.......

i was trying out the new 5.6 ATI drivers, couldnt be botherd with all the tweaking etc so just went for a small middlish overclock on cpu seeing as it doesnt matter to much what the cpus at for 05, now what i didnt realise was i forgot to change the multi lol, just thought **** it fsb straight up to 250 and off she goes, got to windows loading screen and blue screened and just though bah voltage must be to low (was at about 1.55 at the time) stuck it at 1.6v booted in (this is 1.6v 3ghz on a newcastle remember) ran 3dmark05 and it got to the last test, just about to finish when it blue screened, so off i go again bit more voltage and it was now at 1.66v, loaded up fine, ran 05 fine, uploaded score and chatted on msn for a bit :D

i now cannot wait for the weekend, ive got to goto work in 2 hours sadly otherwise i would be playing with it all night, aiming for 300x10 1:1 on the weekend i reckon :D

the bit that impresses me even more though is the heat in my room at the moment, its literally like a sauna, so i cant wait for a nice cool day to give this thing a proper thrashing

Fantastic news, looks like you got a beauty there.

I have heard that the new catalyst drivers rock!!

You should be having some good fun this weekend, looking forward to seeign the results of your labour - potentially the best newcastle results..... ever!!

Good luck

june is going to be quite a fun month i think, clubbing on the saturdays, some nice things coming my way in the form of cooling and hardware in the next few weeks and a holiday with my best mate in the world who i havent seen in over a year next week :D

ive only been 18 for a few weeks and already its the best age ever *touch wood*

Argh! all this overclocking talk... wish I could get my DFi POS working right and do some benches. Did manage 32 sec super pi at stock though :)

I doing my 20th windows install on mine ffs loool I can type all bar the last 5 digits of my cd code without lookin looool

Mate I know how you feel, been there a few times myself.

If it's a DFI NF4 MOBO I have to do all my re-installs with just one stick of ram in and ten add all the parts once i've gottent the basic driver set installed.

They seem tobe very temperamental units - but soooooo worth it when they work right.

BIOS 326 works best for me on all CPU's except Venice and San Diego units then I use 510-2 (-2 for BH5, -1 for TCCD, -3 for Generic RAM)

Hoipe that helps.

Cheers

Nice 1 mate hmmm some super cooling will sort you right out :)

i cant wait :D speaking of which let me know when the mach1 chassis arrives, and if you manage to get it mounted/partially in the chassis by sunday evening send me a piccy ;) off on holiday on monday and wont be back till friday then

as for the DFI problems....problems?!? what is this foolery? :p *hugs perfect board then touchs wood*

although a BIG problem i have which the DFI is the pwmic and nf4 chipset temps, they get very high, 52oC on the chipset just cant be normal..and thats at stock speeds

EDIT: just realised, my HTT speed was still x by 5, it would of been at 1250 when i was running them tests last night, how high are they able to go before falling over?

Everyone I know runs HTT at x4, x5 is too unstable due to higher tempps generated.

I have 60mm fans blowing on the heatsinks (including the 5v one in the top right of the mobo) to keep the temps down - without the fans they are hot to the touch - with the fans they feel warm (probably 40 degrees?).

Cheers
