Hi folks merry xmas to you all
hope you all had a good one!
Ive upgraded an old system to have a spare in the kids room
it did have an old ddr2 p5n-e sli board so i changed it out
for an asrock ddr3 banged 8gb of g-skill in it an used the asrock oc tuner just to take it up to roughly 3ghz from 2.4gz im posting a few cpuid pics an the spec an tuner pic
if any experienced overclockers out there can just take a look an see if things are how they should be or if anything needs tweaking i would be very grateful

The first thing that needs to be done is overclocking through the BIOS, not the software. OS overclocking is inherently unstable, unless you are using ROG connect which is still unstable but is MUCH less so than using software such as OC tuner.
Do not overclock PCIE.

My OC experience proof is in my sig.

Thanks for your reply King of sand is there nothing i could adjust on the OC tuner that could stop the slight stutter in game its almost like a little lag but i know its not! before i hop into bios an do it that way ! its near on perfect for me in evry other way apart from that!cheers

what im trying to say is if i jump into bios an achieve the same as the oc tuner has!is they anything in my pics that would indicate a similar stutter in game! thanks

you could try 400 bus clock with 8x multiplier that would give you 3200mhz
voltage id say try 1.35v. use 4:5 (fsb:dram) that would give you 1000mhz ram.
it would be a little faster + a much higher fsb
with the right cooling you could get it to 3500mhz... mine did 3750mhz on air cooling with 1.425v with temps around the 70's

thanks for your reply these are the only controls you can tinker with on oc tuner

can't you do it in the bios?... could you upload a pic of the voltage control menu?

you could read my mind :)

voltage control menu pic just above mate

i just upped the cpu frequency to 333,an all seems well but just getting that laggie stutter in game when i drop back to 266 stock all is well

try to set the cpu ratio to 8 and then raise the cpu frequency to 400mhz. pci-e stays at 100mhz

best thing to do is setting it in the bios

IT did not like that and it froze up CPMFW had to do a hard reset
yeh arthur i may just do that i thought i could just get away with it on the oc tuner

i mean if i get that stutter in game with the cpu freq set at 333 in oc tuner it cannot be stable then
think ill jump in the bios change the fsb to 333 an vcore to 1.3 an see what happens

I think you should go to start, go to shut down/restart, as it reboots go into your bios and do it from there. What are your system specs? ... if you don't mind...

Mainboard : ASRock G41M-VS3.
Chipset : Intel G41
Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400 MHz
Physical Memory : g-skill ripjaws Physical Memory :8192 MB (2 x 4096 DDR3-SDRAM )9-9-9-24
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Hard Disk : Western Digital WD1600AAJS-75PSA0 ATA Device (160GB)
Operating System : Windows 7 Professional Professional Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
DirectX : Version 11.00

i took it up to 3 from 2.4 on oc tuner an it was fine apart from the stuttering when i ran around in bf3 i dropped it back to 2.4 it was fine
not sure what to disable before i make certain changes in bios to be honest!
