I'm not sure if this is in the right section, if not can a mod please move.
I just came home, and powered up my rig, and all was well for a few mins, and then suddenly it sounded like a gpu fan spinning. It went on for a good half an hour and stopped.
The problem is, my gpu's are under water, and all my fans are on 5v reducers via molex. The only other thing I can imagine it could have been, is the psu ( RM 850 ) If that's the case, I can't understand why it would spin that high. There was no real load going through it, I was only browsing.
My specs are.
i5 4670k 4.2 @ 1.015v
Z87 MSI MPower
2 x HD 7950's
RM 850w
2 x 8gb Avexir
3 SSD's
1 Koolance PMP 500 pump
6 x 120mm / 9 x 140mm Akasa Viper fans.
1 x NZXT LED strip
I have no clue what it was, but all is well now. I should add during the spinning there was no temp difference to the norm. Cheers guys.
My bad, I feel like a right plum, My rear 140mm fan is plugged into the motherboard, as I ran out of 4 pin extension/ splitters. I forgot all about it, after a few weeks of the rig being used, it is the first time it has spun to that speed.
