OCZ Prepares For i7

Nice! The Core i7 Motherboards are all looking good (well some better than others), and now we've got some RAM kits rated at the 1.65V operating voltage...now we just need the procs. Bring 'em on :yumyum:

This really is farcical.

It dawns on us that u either have 3g or 6g. Both being ok for the 64 race. 3g being a waste for 32bit generation as ur going to be addressed down to 2.5 or less.

3 is never a good factor in computing. Tri SLI`ers would probably argue :p (I wouldn`t) Really from dual they should have gone to quad. Tri core cpus ? When u can quad ? Why ?

What really gets my goat is the three types listed, I have the center one, cept it`s rated 7-7-7-24 @ 1.9v (from memory) and even tho I have these I have to buy a new set cos they`ve fixed the voltages.

So we`ll mostly be buying 6g, when we`re using 4g setup atm that hardly use 3g. Buy the 3g and be close to capacity.

This really is a marketing move for memory people. They must be laughing.

I do agree that the only difference between your sticks and the new ones is the voltage, which does seem hard to swallow.

I'm prepared/going to shell out for all new gear anyway when Nehalem finally arrives so it's not really an issue. Just so long as Intel don't move to quad kits or any other alternative in the short term then I'll be happy.

But yeah the memory manufacturers' will be loving it. Agreed!

It certainly is a bit of a gimmick. Hell, I have a 2GB kit from OCZ that already is pretty low voltage. Rated for 1600 7-7-7-20 at 1.9v, but initial SPD is 1333 7-7-7-20 at 1.5v. Still, that's how things go

That`s the thing, they know people will just eat it.

Measure the resistance of the memory and solder in a resistor ? That`s probably all OCZ have done.

*keeps an eye out for a guide* lol

CPUz says the sticks I have are 1.5v for all spd.
