Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe stated that the Oculus Rift plus a PC that can run it will cost you about $1,500.

I personally don't see that being unreasonable given the type of people (us) that are likely to be among the first to buy into the oculus.

I would say a fair few of us here have kit that equates to at least a grand at the time of purchase

I agree with WillSK.

Most people on Overclock3d as well as other sites have a pc that will run this or have spent in the upwards of a few grand to build the pc they wanted.

My plan is to still purchase one, I als think this will have an effect on those gamers that are not Enthusiast and maybe bring them into our world a bit more.

Pretty sure AMD are integrating some new tech they have the allows devs to more easily split the frames for each eye using Radeon GPUs which results in easier programming and better results. Can't remember what it's called. Liquid VR? Just needs brute GPU horsepower and the 290 series are perfect for that. Explains why the minimum requirement is so high.

Same as Tripp, Got the power, Just NEED the headset, I played Alien Isolation at a mates house who bought one of the DK's and holy hell it was amazing albeit made the game 10 times more horrific and heart pounding as it made you feel like you were there but it was amazing !
