Another UK retailer is apparently claiming to have more than 50 at launch, Gibbo is claiming OCUK will have 58, and there's more than 2 retailers stocking VII's, this doesn't quite add up.

Nope, he's usually pretty much bang on, hence why it's gotten to the the point where news sites write articles based on off the cuff comments he makes.

Gibbo is usually good but he was pretty off on a few points with Vega, including with supply, there's definitely some controversies to his name but not all deserved, certainly wouldn't take his word as gospel but he never means wrong at least.

It is probably better to wait a while and get a Strix or Nitro version for the best cooler and performance.

I'm hoping for a Nitro or Strix but haven't multiple AIB's said there are no plans for aftermarket versions ?

I believe you're thinking of Vega when he said AMD fudged the prices so reviewers showed them at $500 then they retailed at $600 or something like that. If I remember right it turned out to be not quite the case.

Gibbo is the guy/source of the headlines that said Vega would have like 1000MH/s mining rate or whatever, I think that was his biggest/most-known misstep.

Gibbo is OCUK's salesman. He will tell you whatever you want to hear, so long as you are buying. And that is why he drives a Porsche.

That said I really can't see there being many of these so in this instance he may have it correct. AMD said they would lose money on every one sold, so I think this is more about saving face than making money. I also think there aren't going to be any partner models, just this one.

You seem to bring that up often, out of interest I looked up his thread about the vehicle and he paid £38k for it. I don't see how that's a sign of excessive wealth as Porsches do hold their value better than most cars.

Even I have owned a Porche during my younger years in the UK. They are not hard to buy. You can get very good cheap ones. Just target sellers in the Guildford area

It seems that some people view even moderate success as undeserved and unfair, and end up disliking and distrusting the person just based on that.

Ask if any of the other OCUK staff have one.

I'm not knocking the guy he's good at what he does and that is selling. Near on all of his posts are to get people buying.

Think about why he would divulge that kind of info. To make people panic into buying one as they don't want to miss out.
